SEO has grown to include a number of areas that were once referred to as Website or Internet Marketing. Can I say that I think both Jill and Martin are correct?
Good SEO involves a lot more than the Name (acronym) once implied - IMO. It has evolved with the engines and directories... and that is just as it should be. As we learn more about our human users and their habits, just like the engines, we have adopted the marketing strategies that work and continue to learn what it takes. In that is where SEO has grown in education and tasks.
I also believe it will continue to evolve...naked SEO, or with more clothes on, I think individuals and businesses have "assumed" that SEO IS Website Marketing or a complete plan - This is what IS NOT the case with all SEO Firms. This is unfortunate, as it only adds to successful website marketing confusion.
SEO can be extremely successful in itself, I have seen it. Likewise, depending upon your market, site, ease-of-use, product, etc... (well said by PhP) - it could (in itself) do very little for your web presence. This is one reason why I review the site and the market (our website analysis) of all our potential clients before
submitting our proposal, or in some cases even declining the invitation altogether.
This #1 Forum should help clean that up right away!
(as they are, dispelling rumors and false beliefs across the globe) - in a single bound, no less... LOL
(I see OWG and I are on the same page) Agreed.
