Hi

I see number of conferences being conducted every year from forums like searchenginewatch, webmasterworld and other closed door conferences.

However the difference in charges for the these conferences is kind of huge. For instance the webmasterworld conference that happened in new orleans was about $500 and the search engine watch conference works out to $1700. In fact the content and the different tracks on the conference are pretty much similar and both have well regarded speakers.

For the same value why is that someone charges 3 times higher, am I missing something?

Any thoughts on this line is appreciated.

Because they can get it.

It's simple supply and demand.

I have no doubt that folks who attend either show, and apply what they learn, will get their money's worth. At this point though, the breadth of topics covered at SES goes beyond what you get at the WMW shows.

I don't want to downplay the value of the WMW conference, because I don't think that it's a fair comparison and they have been closing the gap over the years, but they have a different focus and it's not an apples:apples comparison.
