Ian Turner has been reported missing. He was last seen in New Orleans at the WebMaster World Conference. If anyone has seen him please contact the New Orleans or Atlanta Police Departments.

There's more information at Threadwatch:

Hopefully Ian will turn up safe very soon.

Ali Turner requested that the contact information be channeled through the UK Police Department as the US Police are being inundated. Hopefully information that can help locate Ian will help solve the mystery.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ian and his family.

Good thinking, Alan.

Nick has a newer, updated there here: http://www.threadwatch.org/ian

It may be too soon, but they're also looking into the possibility of hiring a private investigator. Email Nick for more info if you're able to donate any funds to that: nick@threadwatch.org

I am certainly glad he was found "okay" BUT I have to say this is just really really bad / sad stuff.

I don't know exactly what to think at the moment, after reading that thread (now, don't take that wrong because I don't know what happened EXACTLY or WHY and he MAY be some kind of innocent victim ?), but my prayers and hopes remain for the recovery of that family.

It's an ENORMOUS BURDEN to bear...unimaginable to me..."missing" a loved-one is like nothing else--not IMAGINABLE, not at all!

Here in my hometown (2 miles down the street), we are still missing a little girl, my daughters age, missing in Aruba (amazing what can happen on a senior trip)....sad sad sad...I wish she would show up like he did...but I fear she won't.

I just offer prayer, good thoughts, and many hopes for a bright future to his family (they must be RELIEVED!) and for him.

Leann <who wishes all "lost" will soon find their way home, and all the "missing" will be found safe and soon.>

I don't know, I bet she'll be so grateful to have him home safe and sound, it will be like a second honeymoon around their house. smile.gif

I don't get it, to be perfectly honest.

QUOTE
What did happen though was that he left his personal belongings on the plane (passport, wallet, laptop, coat) so subsequently he was arrested by the local police inside/outside the airport. Subsequent to this and the fact he had no ID on him he was detained in the local jail.

They don't arrest you for not having ID on you... and the fact that you have no ID doesn't mean you forgot your home phone number or even your name...

I'm thrilled he's OK but there is a lot missing from the story. To all of you outside the US, you need to know they don't go around asking people for ID and arresting them on the spot, even if they do talk funny. wink.gif

And weren't the Atlanta police involved in the search? They didn't check their own arrests for Sunday at the airport first? I doubt that there were sooooo many British men who didn't know their own name arrested at the airport on Sunday that he was just lost in the mix...

I know he's probably embarrassed and doesn't want to say what really happened, but once you get the world community on alert looking and praying for you, they are going to want to know the story. All of which could have been avoided by a phone call to his wife. They do let you make phone calls, even in an Atlanta jail.
