WHAT WORKS BEST ON A SEARCH RESULTS PAGE

- Different colours will help paid-for links to stand out, according to WebGravity's research.

- The top 30 findings in a search comprise about 90 per of clicks, according to Mike Chowney, managing director of search engine marketing company AdvancePositions.com

- The eye is drawn to boxes as it scans the site, no matter where they are positioned, according to WebGravity

- Ads with higher clickthrough rates will appear higher in the listings on Google

- A strong call to action will enhance clickthrough rate

- A detailed description or a relevant clickthrough is more important than top position, says WebGravity.

Websage the basics of advert layout apply IMO just as much to online as they do to printed matter.

IMAGE> HEADLINE> SUB HEADER > BODY COPY. the obvious addition for a web page is motion, as , man being a preditor is attracted to motion so this would be a distraction as well as an attraction.

do people follow these rules when designing i wonder??
