My sole purpose in life is to confuse people. As discussed somewhere else, I'm a female, so the whole "Micheal" thing is even more confusing.

I can't imagine! wink.gif

Jill thought I was a guy for a long time and she was fairly rude to me... cry_smile.gif

Nah, she wasn't really but it is funny the different responses I get when I have a generic avatar up vs one of me. People are much more polite when they know I'm a she but I'd prefer they just say what they think!

I wonder if that's a southern thing? I had a (female) ancestor named "James", and one of my great-aunts was named "Frances" but everyone called her "Frank". I know that must have sounded odd to people who didn't know our family when I talked about going to see my "Aunt Frank"...

smile.gif

In a desparate, but probably futile, attempt to get this back on-topic, I won't be doing the SF thang (or the San Jose thang) myself, as I can't convince either my employer or my personal bank account to fund a trip to the west coast at the moment... cry_smile.gif

Oh right... on topic... thinking.gif

It's looking like I'm not going to attend this year. I'm not having much luck with the babysitter thing and wow, did airline prices go up this year or what! I haven't completely decided, but it's not looking good for going.

Yes, it's a blast and this is definitely the most fun conference of the year, but I haven't been able to justify the time and the cost to myself ... yet.

cry_smile.gif Dang it! I was looking forward to meeting a fellow North Carolinian and one of our customers. Perhaps another time...

Well, heck, I'm in the Triangle, which isn't that far away... and I'll be over in the Triad area for the Lawn Party in Clemmons at the end of August. I'll probably drive right past Replacements on my way there (not that I'd expect you to be there working on a Saturday, though! wink.gif )

Maybe we can work something out then. I'd like to meet you, as well! smile.gif

(See? I knew it was futile to try to get this back on topic! hysterical.gif)

Was not! mf_tongue.gif

But admittedly I did treat you differently...or at least I felt differently about you in my head. Not necessarily in a bad/good way, just different. (I don't care what anyone says, men and women actually ARE different!)

And yes, I know that Vinnie is a she, but she's gonna get called Vinnie cuz that's her forum name! smile.gif

Back on topic...kinda sorta... I do wish you could get to one of these conferences some time, Torka! You are one of the few mods here I still haven't met yet! Maybe NYC would be more doable for you?

And as to Scottie...if you don't come, you know it just won't be the same. But you don't have to worry about it, because as hard as I try to get the others to talk about you and say bad things behind your back they just won't ever bite! I think they all really like you! clapping.gif

No Karaoke at Google Dance with the Scottie, Matt and Garrett combo? Bummer as that was a definite highlight last year. cry_smile.gif

I wasn't planning on going, but with the SMA-NA membership drive about to start I'll be there.

I hope to see everyone!

Yes, Jill, anything on the east coast is more do-able. smile.gif I'm going to see if I can work that one out for next time around!

Good luck with the membership drive, Ian! Gotta see what my employer/bank account have to say about that, too... wink.gif

I think the karaoke thing is what caused me to lose my voice - that was hideous. Even the drunks thought it was bad.

Torka, many times a west trip flight can cost less than airfare on the east coast. I experienced this many times as the company I consulted with at the time always labored under the impression that west coast flights were very expensive. Yet I could go East coast anytime, without anyone's approval. What was funny is that NYC flights usually cost twice as much as a flight to LA. It's all perception.

What's expensive is the bar tab in San Jose . . . .

LOL. I couldn't even hear you over Garrett screaming his lungs out. What was funny is that right after that, I saw him on the bus ride back, mellow as can be, trying to convert a conference attendee into a KWR customer. lol.gif

I'll be there starting Sunday night and leaving Thursday night - like Christine, I'm booked on Monday and Thursday to speak, with time off for good behavior in the middle. Looking forward to seeing the HR crew again!
