Jill thought I was a guy for a long time and she was fairly rude to me...
Nah, she wasn't really but it is funny the different responses I get when I have a generic avatar up vs one of me. People are much more polite when they know I'm a she but I'd prefer they just say what they think!

In a desparate, but probably futile, attempt to get this back on-topic, I won't be doing the SF thang (or the San Jose thang) myself, as I can't convince either my employer or my personal bank account to fund a trip to the west coast at the moment...

It's looking like I'm not going to attend this year. I'm not having much luck with the babysitter thing and wow, did airline prices go up this year or what! I haven't completely decided, but it's not looking good for going.
Yes, it's a blast and this is definitely the most fun conference of the year, but I haven't been able to justify the time and the cost to myself ... yet.

Maybe we can work something out then. I'd like to meet you, as well!
(See? I knew it was futile to try to get this back on topic!

Was not!
But admittedly I did treat you differently...or at least I felt differently about you in my head. Not necessarily in a bad/good way, just different. (I don't care what anyone says, men and women actually ARE different!)
And yes, I know that Vinnie is a she, but she's gonna get called Vinnie cuz that's her forum name!
Back on topic...kinda sorta... I do wish you could get to one of these conferences some time, Torka! You are one of the few mods here I still haven't met yet! Maybe NYC would be more doable for you?
And as to Scottie...if you don't come, you know it just won't be the same. But you don't have to worry about it, because as hard as I try to get the others to talk about you and say bad things behind your back they just won't ever bite! I think they all really like you!

Good luck with the membership drive, Ian! Gotta see what my employer/bank account have to say about that, too...

Torka, many times a west trip flight can cost less than airfare on the east coast. I experienced this many times as the company I consulted with at the time always labored under the impression that west coast flights were very expensive. Yet I could go East coast anytime, without anyone's approval. What was funny is that NYC flights usually cost twice as much as a flight to LA. It's all perception.
What's expensive is the bar tab in San Jose . . . .

LOL. I couldn't even hear you over Garrett screaming his lungs out. What was funny is that right after that, I saw him on the bus ride back, mellow as can be, trying to convert a conference attendee into a KWR customer.
