On global sites like Visa the url is often represented: www.usa.visa.com what are the major advantage to this versus: www.visa.com/usa? Also is there ever a good reason to break up regional sites into separate domains so they can be optimized on their own, or, is it always advisable to leave all regional sites under a common umbrella as long as the site is crawlable and optimize the site as a whole and benefit from combined traffic ranking? The only thing that I noticed was that a lot of regional directories will only accept free submissions from local companies, these directories are obviously of interest to us because of link popularity and to enhance our global presence.

Also I feel I was greatly misinformed on this point, but someone tried to tell me that framed sites need to have the same title tags across all pages. I don't think this is true because all the frameset tags I have seen start after the title tags so that just doesn't make any sense.

Welcome, kolsyn!

I moved your post out of the forum tips section to here.

You might be interested in a guest article I ran some months back called, Best Practices for Multilingual Websites.

Hope this helps.
