Charging Per Keyword Or Per Keyphrase?

Hello,

With preparation for our first baby and a basement remodeling project, I have not had time to visit this fine forum lately.

But here I am, looking for a word of wisdom on this question:

We all, Jill followers, agree that optimization makes sense when approaching the keywords in phrases rather than stand-alone, single words.

What is your way of charging a client -- per keyword or per keyphrase? What about retainers?

Thanks in advance! I understand that I might be asking for too much :-)

I also charge by project

rarely you will only do seo , most of the time I have to do some copy editing ( basic stuff not rewriting the site )

if you keep the ratio of 2-3 keyword/ phrase per page then you do the math

congrats on the baby ( I have a 4 months old boy ) , don't take to many contracts , you won't :) much in the coming months
