so the general concensus is that this is the end of Google PR?
It was a gauge that a lot of people aspired to but was it really an important one as you gould still be #1 on a good phrase but with a low PR......
Maybe we can start worrying about the more important things..?

Regards
S

I don't think it's the end of Google's PR, at least not in the sense of some form of PR being used as one of the factors that figures in to where a page ranks on the SERPs. I think it may be at least the beginning of the end of the public display of PR via the toolbar, but that's a completely different issue.

What Torka said. Toolbar PR had only a bit to do with real PR. I'm quite sure that real PR is still alive and well and hasn't changed one bit.

As seen in post #68 forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=5949&page=4&pp=20 PR is working again for some people.

As seen in msg #364 www.webmasterworld.com/forum80/934-37-10.htm "...there was some new infrastructure that was swapping in. They expect normal toolbar pagerank display to resume in a few hours--no need for concern."

And mine is back now too! Well, only for this page, not for highrankings.com. I still have to wait to see if this is a good forum. biggrin.gif

I agree Chris. At least it was nice to have hope for awhile. Too bad they didn't let it drag on for a few weeks to wean everyone from momma's milk. wink.gif

How about this as an idea...

From now on when anyone asks a question about PR we all agree to answer with "What's PR?" and completely ignore the little green bar.

Self weaning would be a good thing me thinks. jester.gif

...PR is of little use just a guide....unless you base your business plan around selling PR links to people who think it has value wink.gif

I still say that client side page rank display is a PITA sad.gif just think, people could have gone to the brave new (old) world of linking for relevance, where a link brings in traffic, and qualified traffic at that lol.

Who needs traffic when you have <hero music> PAGE RANK MAN !
