Strange Indexing Of Site
Posted 20 October 2003 - 08:23 AM
I have noticed very strange indexing of my site- www.hairresources.com. It seems that the metatag title and descriptions are invisible. The listings that I have on several engines, overture, google, just have the URL. www.hairresources.com as the title with no description.
Some of the pages on the site are dynamically created, but I do have metatags for every single page. Does anyone know why it is that the spiders are not reading the metatags and using them.
The main culprit could be Google. In September, Google had about 11 pages of my site indexed with full titles/descriptions as I had put them. Then all of the sudden, at the end of the month, everything disappeared and only one or two pages are showing up with the strange URL as the Title and no description.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

As for why it's screwed up in Google, right now it seems that Google has an older copy of your site in it's index, so is showing a couple older titles. Also, the instances of it where you see only the URL as the title of the page means that Google has not indexed that page, but beleives it exists due to links pointing to it. Usually a good indicater that Google will come back to your site - though also may mean you have technical trouble with your web pages.

Google shows zero back links for your site you have to improve on that part to get noticed by google.
And coming to the title tag and the description in google. I think it is showing the old site. Here is the cache version of the title that is in google
<title>From Beauty Salons Columbus Ohio to seattle beauty salons, find salons nationwide in directory</title>
And also your description tag is missing a double quotes in the end. And see how my software reads your TAG
That is because of the missing quotes. And coming to problem your pages were dropped it could be because of the lack of backlinks to your site. Please increase your back links soon google will pick your site and index it,
<META NAME="Description" CONTENT="From Columbus to Chicago to Seattle beauty salons, nationwide directory offers detailed salon info. Also find formal hair styles, long hair cut styles, short and medium hair styles pictures and more.><link rel="stylesheet" style="css/text" href="styles.css">

Google doesn't index your Meta tags. You need to have good Title tags, and good copy on the page for them to index.

I'm still working on the backlinks issue. I have several lined up, but they are from pages with a very low PR. Any suggestions?
