ALTERNATE ADS

Second, we've introduced an 'Alternate Ad' feature to your
account. This new feature allows you to monetize your ad space in
the event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads to your
page. From the 'Ad layout code' page, enter the URL of a static
image, clickable image, or ad server, and AdSense will load your
ad instead of Public Service Ads (PSAs). Should you choose not to
specify your own ads, PSAs will continue to be served to your
page.

For more information on the new 'Alternate Ads' feature and how
to take advantage of it, please refer to the AdSense FAQ at:
https://www.google.c...se/faq#basics10 .

Very cool feature- it can show you clearly the pages the Adsense spider hasn't reached yet. A good troubleshooting tool as well as a good alternate for other ads on your site!

It's certainly a nice bonus.

For people selling products through affilate programs, it might be worth creating some Adsense formatted banners and pointing out the instructions to your affiliate network.

Very cool feature

I've been lurking and I thought this might be useful...

A lot of people are having difficulty implementing this new feature. We just sent out a Special Alert to our 'Dollars and AdSense' subscribers about this. Here are a couple of highlights to help you if you're having problems:

What problems do alternate ads solve?

Many webmasters don't want to display public service ads (PSAs) when Google is unable (for any reason) to provide AdWords. Since webmasters are not paid when PSAs are displayed, they want to use the space on their site to display ads for things that earn them money.

Alternate ads let you use one banner to replace PSAs.

To help you, we've created a webpage that gives an example of how to do this. It's called:

'Google AdSense Alternate Ads in 4 Easy Steps'

Cheers,

Audri

Welcome to the forum, Audri. :naughty:

I've been impressed with how thorough your mini-course on Adsense has been. It's a great resource.
