Links Get Indexed Randomly In Yahoo
Posted 12 April 2005 - 02:52 PM
I have a page with 50 links that look like this (just an example):
The strange thing that happens to me is that, Yahoo has only indexed 10 (or so) of these 50 links, and it picked randomly from these links (e.g. I found the 1st, 3rd, 6th link indexed in Yahoo, but not the 2nd, 4th, 5th)
This page has been indexed in Yahoo for half a year, and I can also confirm that the 50 links only appear on this page, not on anywhere else in the world. Also, all the 50 links are pointing internally (same domain).
MSN indexed all the 50 links, anyone knows why this is happening on Yahoo?
Thanks, your help is appreciated.

It's just the way it works, links aren't crawled in any particular sequence (it prevents locked loops). More links pointing to that page can improve the amount of urls that get crawled.

I would guess that yahoo has decided that those links are probably not very important since they are only linked to from that one page, and therefore have only bothered to spider a random sampling.
Why would they want to waste their time on links that even the site owner doesn't feel are important enough to link to from the rest of their site?
