Hi,
what do you think are the best, search engine friendly, open source shop systems, written in php, out there?
Thanks for your hints!
Matthias

OSCommerce isn't bad if you don't mind installing a couple of additional modules.

Add my vote for oscommerce as well. You will have to put your hands in the motor and do some hacking but osc has a large number of module contributions and a very friendly and active forum. You should be able to build a very good shop and it is SE friendly.

Take a look at Zen Cart, find it with a web search. It's easier than OSCommerce and a bit friendlier.

Well, I personally HATE osCommerce, becuase it is a dog's breakfast with no way to intuitively know where stuff is, but if you ABSOLUTELY MUST use it, get creloaded, which has mods installed already.

We are using ecommerce templates and it helped our rankings in the engines once we applied a simple mod that cost around $20. Originally it just said "memory foam furniture - products" It now puts up the individual item title and that has helped us dramatically.

thanks for the welcome. what template did you buy rossnjaime and where did you buy it.

the problem with zen, cube and all them is that they arent seo ready. You have to install mods to make them seo complaint, and those mods interefere with other mods. and when they upgrade the whole thing wholes to hel*.

I am seriously thinking of having a yahoo store. I dont know what to do. My site has gorgeous products but my rankings stink, I have a link directory and all.

Im at my wits end.!!!

Hi All,

I use oscommerce, and started as a newbie back in January. It can be confusing to start with but after a few months of finding what your looking for and building offline, i finally have the contributions installed that i need (i just add one at a time to my offline store then upload once its tested).

It can be very daunting, but oscommerce have a very large online community that can help with any issues or questions you may have regarding modifying the store etc.

I've had many problems and always found an answer there...i would definately recommend if your willing to get your hands dirty a bit. Although a piece of advice, never try and modify your live store (it will break i assure you...lol).

Download something like Easyphp and build/modify your store offline, then you can test all the contributions and designs without affecting your online presence.

Just ask if you wanna know more...lol...i have oscommerce coming out of my ears and its embedded in my brain...lol!! I'm no expert mind, but i can certainly advise on what its like to start from scratch with it.

Best Regards

Donna
