Howdy Jill and Moderation company! biggrin.gif

I was wondering if there was any plans in the future to add a section (folder/area) specific to blogs in relation to SEO/SEM?

I'm always out reading Steve Ruebel's MicroPersuasion, The Blog Herald and Jeremy Wright's Ensight to pick up new and innovative ideas as well as basic techniques in using a blog to promote a website. It'd be great to have a forum area dedicated to blogs to talk about them here too, rather than the occasional post or two.

Just a thought that actually came to mind ... on my lazy friday zz.gif

while I'm not sure that blogs have any added benefit to seo that you can't get from adding regular content to your regular website. there has been discussion over the last year or so about how having a blog is simply good for marketing your business.

At sxsw the last couple of years they have had workshops on the subject discussing some real world business applications for blogs and blog related technology

Here is a link to the 2004 session on blogging for business:
http://www.nickfinck...tions/sxsw2004/

and here is a link to building your brand with blogs from just a week or so ago:

alternatively searching either of those to session titles on google will bring up some insightful blog posts on the subject.

thanks for the links sweepthelegnate smile.gif

I guess the reason I asked about having somewhere to discuss the Blogs is that I find this site so helpful and welcoming! I know I get a lot of questions from friends about blogs and just how helpful are they.... then how do i set one up... all the usual "give me free information" questions.

Since there is a search marketing section I thought maybe this subject could fall under there, and that's where some good discussions about Blogs and their ramifications on SEO and SEM could be discussed.

I'm always intrigued on the uses companies have for them.... and then by the non uses that can create nightmares (i.e. Kryptonite Bike Lock fiasco .. and today's UK artists installing his own painting at the NY Met and three other NYC Museums) (btw if you want that information visit Steve Ruebel's Blog - MicroPersuasion)

anyway... that's the reason for the question/possible suggestion! smile.gif

Hi Liana,

I just really don't see blogs as anything different than any other website. They have no special powers for SEO or rankings or whatever.

Any blog discussions would probably fit under the Search Engine Friendly Design category since that's what's so great about blogs, their se friendliness!

Heya Jill smile.gif

I understand your point - I'll post to that area on blogs. This is an area I'm finding more and more interesting ... and useful!

I guess maybe not on a SE optimization point, but more on a marketing and PR point. It's just amazing how fast rumors and news travels through all these blogs!

I think Bloglines has become my new addictions lol.gif

They can definitely be addicting...which is why I mostly stay away from them!

Blogs tend to all follow xhtml 1.0 so all formatting is handled in css. Thus the text to code ratio is very high. That would be a contributing factor to why they are performing quite well.

Quick update to this thread.

I just added a blog/feed forum under the Branding Yourself and Becoming an Expert forum.

I'm moving relevant threads into it now. In fact, that's how I happened to stumble upon this one and figured I'd post!
