Hi to all,
I would like to know your opinion about Yahoo paid inclusion.
I’m not in Yahoo directory but I get some traffic from Yahoo! Web Sites(base on HitsLink statistic). My question is whether inclusion in to Yahoo directory will boost traffic from Yahoo or not.

All your answers will be very appreciated.
Thank

You get into Yahoo and found there right now by being in Google. My opinion is that it's not necessary to spend $299 per year to be listed in their directory at this time.

I think very few people actually drill down into the Yahoo directory. Most people use it as a search engine, and right now, that means they're using Google.

The best thing you get out of being in the Yahoo directory IMO is a very nice backlink. I don't think that's worth $299.

Of course, all of this may change when Yahoo starts using Inktomi. It wouldn't surprise me if being in the directory gave one a boost in the Inktomi search once that happens, but that's just a guess. I'm not going to spend any money on Yahoo until I know what's going on there.

If you have a site which will would be listed high in the Yahoo structure (say from a PR 8 page) then probably the Yahoo fee could be justified. But if you are getting a deeper link from something like a PR 4 page then the fee would be hard to justify.

If you're fortunate to be based outside the US ( ), then you have a few more options available to you with regards to the Yahoo directory.

For example, we managed to get a client (who is acutally British) registered in Yahoo Asia because of a Philippines connection. This was a free entry, and also gets you listed in the main Yahoo.com directory.

Also, in the UK it works a little differently. If I remember correctly, it's £199 one-off fee for entry into the directory. Depending on the client, two hundred pounds isn't usually too excessive as a one-time payment.

Hope that helps someone.
