Not sure if this is the best place but i am sure i will get moved if not.

I had two domains pointing to the sameIP address, google decided that as they had the same content on them, it would drop one of them from the database, It dropped the one with all the links to it :-(

Anyhow, i thought no problem, set up a forwarding page with a nice we have moved message, and a html link for the bot to follow as well, make the re-direct delay 5 seconds so that it will not treat it as a doorway page, and all will be fine , right? WRONG :-( x 100 Googlebot is hitting the page, but refusing to follow the link, it has been to the page every day for the last week, but wil not follow it, I checked with the people at Google who assure me the second page has NOT been punished or blacklisted, any suggestions?

the re-direct page is at http://www.tyconakitas.com am i better off doing a 301 redirect?

Sorry to sound like a novice, but hey I am lol

301 permanent redirect is the best way to go.

You said the one you are currently redirecting has "all the links to it." Are you referring to back links? Because I only see Google showing 1 back link for each URL :guinea:

Hi Searchrank, I know, for some reason all the backlinks have gone as well, i really do not know what has happened, I KNOW there are links still there, as i have followed them, and I also know that they are from pages with pr6 so they should be showing, but are not.

It is all a mystery to me, Luckily its not a selling site, rather an information site, so its not the end of the world, (even though they have gone from 20,000 unique visitors to about 4,000 a month) my main concern is why googlebot will not follow the link? wierd.

Google only shows the links it ranks highly right? as when i did a backlink check the other day, it showed google as having 70 odd, but the backlink on google only showed 10.

Hello Welsh,
Try reducing the time delay from 5 sec to 2 sec may be. Anyway 301 redirects pages are not treated as doorway pages by google.
And it seems google has dropped all your back links to the site. And even it is not considering dmoz entry important since it is not showing any description below it. I feel it assumes the site no longer exists,
Try reducing the time delay and if google is not revisiting submit your site again and check it works,
All the best,
thanks,
VIJAY.
