Is this happening to juts me, or is everybody getting more and more really crazy link exchange requests?
I just received a reciprocal linking request with a page themed around a pumpkin cheesecake recipe from a site about pumps.
Yesterday, I received a similar request for a page on building self confidence from a site about building (construction, supplies, etc.)
Both were worded identically to each other and to an ever increasing flow of similar requests, written in the same style with identical wording in parts, such as: "I wanted to gauge your interest in networking our websites together more closely for mutual benefit."
I assume one of those you-can-make-a-million-bucks-with-no-work-by-automating-everything SEO software programs is churning out this rubbish. Any idea which one?

No clue which it is since I've never used any of those programs Amabaie, but yes they do seem to be more popular than ever. Really stupid requests too.
I just trash 'em immediately when I see certain verbiage that I know is automated. So even if it was someone I would link with otherwise, they're missing out by using the automated crap. I'll never even see their site.

I had one of those "second notice" emails today -- the ones in which they claim to be asking for the second time, that their link to you is already up...
I bet this works on a lot of people. It doesn't work on me.
Another thing I've noticed recently (and this just applies to me): my little niche directory is now listed in many directories of directories. That's great, but a lot of people are not checking to see what niche my niche directory represents. Someone also listed it on an SEO forum among other directories one should submit to, with no mention that it represents a particular niche at all (although I would have thought the name of the directory makes that kind of clear).
So now I'm getting a few submissions a week from car parts companies in Japan

I've gotten a few these past few weeks.
Definately an automated (likely PHP) program that scavenges search terms to build an automated directory entry using that term and binds the term to web sites with those same keyworks and scavenges the e-mail address from that web site in order to get that web site to link to them in order to get link boosts for that term just to show up in the SERP in order to display Google ads and get adword income. They are Shotgun Directories of no value and I trash the e-mails.

I wouldn't notice if I was getting them as k9 knows that they all go straight to the trash with the rest of my spam.
