Looking at last month's web stats for one of my clients last night, I came across no less that 1347 visits from a crowd called Exodus Communications Inc. Lawson in Ecuador - IP 64.68.82.0

Anyone know who they are and, more importantly, what they want??

Hello BR,

Exodus Comm appears to be Cable & Wireless so I would imagine that a lot of C&W ( not country and western :) ) dial-up users have been looking at your site.

Nope - can't be that - no other domain comes anywhere near it in terms of visits. And it didn't even feature in the August site stats!

Yours confused

So it's Googlebot - can't imagine why matrixstats is calling it 'Exodus Comms' from Ecuador then!

Thanks all for your help.

Because the ARIN records are just a tad confused. They show the Cable & Wireless (Exodus) IP blocks on both sides of the Google IP's, but are showing them in such a way that it would normally include those Google IP's. Dunno why they did it that way. Someone could report it, but it doesn't really cause any harm I suppose.

Plug in the IP over on ARIN and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks, Randy - it's plain as day now - problem solved!

Isn't it marvellous all the many and varied things we are able to sort out in this forum - how did I manage beforehand??
