I keep reading in Web marketing/design forums and newsletters I get about how highly regarded blogs are in search engines and how it's a good thing for businesses to get into.
Can anyone post links of good examples of how businesses are utilizing them effectively? Does you company utilize one?
I can see it puts names/faces on for the company, but how else does it help?

As a small business I'm always on the lookout for new ways of marketing on the web. That said I realize my restrictions in that I am not that web savvy. Though I'll try anything once( Watch That Thought!). Money being an issue, the smaller the dollar sign the better.
So what is blogging? Is it safe? Is it ethical? What would be my boundaries? Can I (and do you) use it for profit?

Hi Barbara. I've moed this thread into Internet Marketing.
A blog is a web log. Kind of like an online diary. They use fairly user-friendly software to allow just about anyone to publish on the web.
Safe in what way? Many consider it addictive...
It's ethical if it's not used to cheat people. There's been a lot of talk lately of people recommending the use of a blog to promote your site. Just publish a bunch of pages up there, and keep linking to your main site using keyword-rich anchor text. Seems like a waste to me. Unless the content that's going on the blog just wouldn't fit on the site, I figure you might as well just add pages to your site.
I'm not sure what you mean by boundaries.
Lots of people use them for profit. They sell advertsising space on them.

We just had another thread on this yesterday, so I've merged them.
