It's almost like when your teenage daughter comes home from school, showers, changes clothes and gets ready to run back out the door and your stop her and say, "Whoa, hold on there! Let me see how you're dressed to go out." And you then either approve her attire or send her back in to put something else on. Maybe a poor analogy but all I could think of here in the early morning.
I would be interested to see if anyone else has experienced this.

The problem with making multiple changes at once is that you do not know which changes helped you and which ones are hurting your rankings. If you want to keep improving the best tip is to just keep getting incoming links.

I probably feel there is a mass indexing going on. There is a constant change in rankings in google in the space of 1 hour or something for most of my SEO sites.
So hope we wait let this thing settle down and then you see how google ranks you, Hope the final decision is in favour of you,

From the tracking I've been doing, the number of pages spidered and indexed has changed almost daily for the last two months (I know how fricken neurotic I sound!).
But I have the same problem too. The site I work on has changed in rank and the page views have dropped as result. Because we're constantly adding new products everyday, if what I'm hearing here is true, I could be deep trouble! Other than add more incoming links and whatnot, I'm not quite sure what to do either.
I guess Jill is right- live by the rankings and die by the rankings!

Work on link popularity. Whenever you have nothing to do, don't focus on the little details of your optimization efforts. You can't determine what the result are of small changes you make simply because there are too many other factors involved, and most of them you can not check since they are outside your controll. These factors include all the things the other web masters are doing with their sites.
Don't try to get the site "better optimized" when you feel you already did everything possible. You will be spending lots of time on little things that may increase (or decrease) your rank just 1 or 2 positions, if any. Besides that, small changes that do give an increase in rank are not solid solutions. You need a solid base. Link Popularity gives that base.
