With the importance of links, isa there an easy way to find a list of the sites that link to your site?
I believe there is a m,odule in WPG but no idea how it works. I downloaded the trail but not sure of its value yet.

Hi Carl,
You can go to most search engines and type link:www.yourdomain.com into the search box and you'll get a list of the most of the links pointing to your site. (Substitute your own domain of course.)
There's also a quickie way to see a bunch of engines at once over at MarketLeap.

Hi,
If you have the Google toolbar, you can just click the pull-down menu with the "i" on it next to PageRank and choose "Backward Links."
There are lots of other tools, but I really like Marketleap's:
http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/
It shows you the backward links via five different browsers.
Of course, you can always type the search into a browser, but the tool makes it a lot easier and you get five for the time it takes to search for one.

MarketLeap is very handy but it only shows the results for Google's link:www.mydomain.com search.
To get the full list of links in Google a search on
"www.mydomain.com"
will show you the full list.
If you want to get sophisticated, you can look for internal links with
"www.mydomain.com" site:www.mydomain.com
Conversely external links are found with a search for
"www.mydomain.com" -site:www.mydomain.com
Once you have the relevant SERP on your screen, you can Copy the Address of the page to a Shortcut on your Desktop. You can then click to see the report whenever you wish.

I have this rockin' tool on my desktop (I think my boss paid around $150 for it but I love it...saves time with tons of info!).
I'm not an affiliate or anything, but try this out...

Hope that helps!

also remember to try and get the same link consistantly.
the results will be different for link:mydomain.coom
and link:www.mydomain.com
i think by convention most sites still usually use the www.
