Hey everybody, I hope that you're enjoying a Merry Christmas

The reason for the post is that I just signed up for Google Adsense and would like to know what to expect. I'm a newbie as you can tell LOL biggrin.gif .

Anyway, I set the PPC at 0.05 and the budget per day at 1 dollar. I know I'm not exactly breaking the bank, but would like to know what to expect and look for.

Anything that would help me be successful is appreciated.

Thanks

First, it sounds like you mean Adwords rather than Adsense.

If that's the case, I'd read through the Adwords introductory info, buy a copy of Andrew Goodman's book on Adwords, and increase your budget a bit. The first two will teach you what to expect and the third will allow you to gather enough data to make sound decisions about what's working. Of course, looking through the threads on this forum is another great source of information on Adwords.

If your ads are running in a competitive/high bid market, I wouldn't expect much of anything out of .05 cent bids since they will receive little to no impressions.

I assume your goal is to learn how make money off of the traffic you capture. If so, taking the time to learn how to use the program efficiently would be time well spent.

Good luck.

Thanks for replying Haystack and yes I do mean Adwords

I won't be buying any books at the moment because I, well don't have the money for another two weeks ranting.gif which is the reason the bid amount is so low.

The terms I'm bidding on are "small business ideas" and "home based business ideas". I don't know how competitive this are. Or even how competitive they are in relation to other keywords. At the moment I just don't know ranting.gif

I'm pretty certain that when you add keywords to your adwords listing, that Google will tell you what kind of ranking and traffic you can expect. You can then adjust the $/click or $/day to get roughly the desired traffic.

If you have not done so I would also sign up for the Google Advertising Professional Program. You won't be able to be "certified" until you meet their requirements but I believe you will have access to the tutorials which are extremely detailed and informative. I took them prior to taking the exam and although I have been using Adwords for a while I learned quite a bit. Plus, they are free!

Content Total is the number of impressions and clicks your ads have received from AdSense advertisers and other contextual ads. The Search totals cover your ad performance on Google Search and their search partners like AOL.
