I haven't had much time to drop by lately but I have a Search Engine Friendly copy of phpBB available for beta release. To use it, you will have to have mod_rewrite enabled on your server as I haven't had time to fix up a non-mod_rewrite version yet.

This is just a BETA release, it is not released for the general public and I am just releasing a few copies for people to try out and give critique/advice on.

I have had several inquiries about this project in the past from members here so I thought that I would just post here and see if anyone else is willing to try this out. If anyone would like a copy, please PM me and I will send you the link as I don't want to post it here (and it would probably also be against the self-advertising rules). Thanks,

Hi Nathan,

I wouldn't mind having a look-see, if you'd like to fire off a copy to me

Okay, I'll put you on the list. BTW, you can view a copy of the board at http://www.phpbbopti...tion.com/forum/ . It has a lot of subtle features, including mod_rewrite, an archive, general speeding up of the forum, and many little things here and there.

It's a forum software very similar to the High Rankings Forum. biggrin.gif

Yes, you can view a demo at www.phpbb.com/phpBB/ (unmodified version). It is open-source and is released under a license that allows other programmers to modify it so I am offering a modified version for other webmasters to use. It is a beta version, though, which means that it isn't quite finished yet.

Mod Rewrite has been available for phpbb for over a year now. You can get the complete SEO package from www.phpbbhacks.com and even www.phpbb.com for those that require it.

The complete SEO package takes out many distinguishing forum features and links to make it look less like a forum to a search engine, and more like a normal site, thus links and so forth get weighted a little heavier.
