I began experimenting with Google AdSense channels a few moons ago, and found them very useful. But I held back at updating all my pages - it would have meant altering all my ads. Now Google have introduced this:
QUOTE
URL channels allow you to track the performance of individual pages, or groups of pages, without having to update your ad code.

By entering a full or partial URL, you'll immediately begin tracking the performance of your pages ... you can enter a partial URL to track all of the pages below a certain directory.

Thank you Santa cheers.gif

I have a "book reviews" directory I wanted to analyse to see if people were clicking on my Google AdSense ads as much as they click on Amazon links. This is now trivially easy to set up.

Are others finding channels useful. In what ways are you using them?

That's a great enhancement. It looks like Google is listening.

I'll assume a check is in the mail, Google. tongue.gif

Like you, I use it to figure out what's working. More at a curiosity level than anything else. Enough so to test and build upon the success I've seen so far.

I am still waiting for the ability to ignore certainly keywords - like for example my competitors sites shouldnt be showing up on mine! Ok so you can add upto 1000 urls to ignore but that seems extremely inefficient to me.

linux_lover, are you suggesting that AdSense should serve ads on your site, but not about what your site is about? That sounds like a good challenge.

I find the channels useful in that I can separate different sites as well as different section in one particular site and see which site or section is performing the best.

I agree that Google's URL filter isn't good enough. You can get some really awful stuff coming through - from cranky to obscene. The worst I've had is a Kelkoo ad. for a video containing Nazi propoganda, on a page (I might add) that has nothing remotely to do with fascism. I had Burke's famous quote "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" on the page, so a Nazi with a warped sense of humour might be involved. Anyway, taking the quote to heart, I've been hammering Kelkoo and Google with emails to try and stop this ad. The URL was too long to filter out directly. Google didn't respond and Kelkoo were unhelpful. I responded by filtering out Kelkoo completely - a blunt instrument but I felt like applying it at this point.

Being a freedom-of-speech liberal of the school of J.S. Mill, I wouldn't press for the videos to be piled high and set on fire - but that doesn't mean I want them on my site!
