I like Skijungle.com and wow, both are good for traffic and a backlink. Greenstalk.com is also pretty good for traffic, even though its new.

Does anyone have any suggestions for directories or sites to get blogs listed? I've got a client's blog that I'd like to promote and make visible. I'm a blog newbie.

The subject is marketing for consultants.

Thanks,
Andrea

I ran a search at the ISEDB on the word "blog" and it came up with six results. I don't know any of them, as I've never promoted a blog, but they're probably worth looking into.

Did you make a mistake on Skijungle.com? I can't access the site. I did find and
submit to the other site you listed Greenstalk.com.

This message string is a great resource. It has helped me a lot. I’m adding few to it.

All Links Directory Well done directory with a respectable rank. Within hours if submission my site was added.

First Directory Directory It shows your rank in the results

I am starting to create a listing of no-fee directories at my site. I wish I had started this day one. I’m also following up with my submissions. The above two had my site listed in less then one business day. I have had some others where I was required to add a recriprocal yet after follow up emails and the passage of time no link appears at their site.

Where are you guys coming up with these directories that have barely any listings?

Are these your own or something?

Hey Jill,

Although I am building a directory I have not posted it anywhere, it’s not ready yet.

I’m finding them by links. When I go to a directory I may look to see who’s linking to it. Also I’ll look up other directories that are in its listing then checking them out.

If there is a fee I move on. If you have to register or link back I at least evaluate it and if it checks out I follow the instructions. I’ve spent quite a bit of time and in retrospect I wish I kept a detail evaluation of each directory since day one. Going forward I’m doing that in the directory I’m building.

Some niche may be small but since they don’t have tens of thousands of listings its easier to get to my listing, sometimes only one click away from the index page.

Well, the reason I asked is that this thread is supposed to be "Important Directories" and when I click on some of these alleged Important Directories I see that they have maybe 10 sites or something in them.

These are obviously just created to try to inflate people's link pop. and/or simply to get their own sites noticed.

Can we please reserve this thread for actual directories that are established and worthwhile for the traffic they may produce? Unfortunately, anyone and their brother can throw up a directory script these days, but it doesn't make for an "important" directory.

I wonder if all of those are already covered? Seems these would be a very limited number of directories.

On the subject of directories of blogs and RSS feeds:

- Yahoo has an RSS feed directory in beta. Instructions are here:
http://my.yahoo.com/s/publishers.html

- Syndic8 is a huge RSS directory that is very actively managed through the owner. A large group of volunteers manually evaluates and approves feeds:
http://www.syndic8.com/

- There is a list of blog directories here:
eclaunchsite.com/ECLblogsearchengines.htm
(I haven't looked at all of them, but spot checked three. Two of the three I looked at appeared pretty well established.)
