new directory I've started for law firms, attorneys, lawyers, etc. Lists lawyers by US state and practice area. Only quality sites - all are reviewed by a real human

Not for ones you'd LIKE to be established but aren't yet.

Please everyone go try the others but give mine 6 months before submitting. Being as we're on page 11 of the posts I assumed we had begun to branch out a bit from including just the most common directories...

I'd like to challenge that on the grounds that the title is "important" directories, not "established directories". I'll have to continue the argument though at some other point when I'm not half asleep. Anyone?

I found a list a few months ago that was compiled in Excel and contained the names, urls and page ranks of free web directories I then read about an update to the list and thougt I had bookmarked the site, but discovered I did not.

Can anyone point me to the source of the list? I have been searching the SEO forums and can not find it (although I am sure I just missed it)

I went thru the thread you recommended but could not find it. I am pretty sure th person who compiled the list is a regular contributor.

Before posting this topic I searched if there was a list of free directories here .... didn't find it. So ...

Do you know of any good, quality directories that don't require payment OR reciprical link?

A friend of mine runs a web site that may be helpful. It's called best-web-directories and contains an excellent list of sites. I'm sure there are others, though...

try typing in things like 'directory list' and you will find a lot of directories of directories... A lot of these can be a right pain tho.. Try something like .directorylist dot org who i think seperate into niche categories.

A lot of us in here have directories of some kinds too.. It depends on your niche as to which ones would be useful.
I have a Spain one, Old Welsh Guy has a Welsh one etc etc
