Anyone going to run for a SEMPO Board Position?

Does anyone know if this means the entire board is up for vote?

Yes, Jill, I think the entire board is up for a vote. That's been the goal.

Wonder how it will all work? Are they all going to be on the ballot, plus new people who may want to run?

Wish there were some more details.

As I understand it, some of the current board will run again, and presumably know someone who will nominate them. Some of them undoubtedly wouldn't serve again if you paid them. biggrin.gif

SEMPO members vote for other SEMPO members.

Simple as that. Jill, if your a member, you got my vote. I know you want it. wink.gif Of course I am kidding, I know you don't want it. lol.gif

Hmm...this is weird.

SEMPO is an online organization of Web professionals, am I right?

I just got nomination papers (to be able to nominate someone if I want) by snail mail! Looks like you have to mail or fax them in. I wonder if this means they don't have an online means of doing this? (I haven't checked.)

I don't know about the rest of you, but there's nothing I dislike more than PAPER! yuk.gif One more thing to add to my mess.

<added>I see that you can get the form on your site, but you have to fax it, not just email it, it appears.

If you are annoyed by the paper trail, consider the alternative. SEMPO did it that way since there are always some problems with emails getting through. We wanted to make sure (just like US national elections) that we have a paper trail and full database notification history. That way, no one can say they didn’t get the nomination form, and we have a hard copy of everything for security. You know as well as I do, that if we put up an electronic form for this crowd, someone would find a way to hack it and mess with the results. Better low-tech than another “scandal” ;-)

So, just to be clear, the nomination process is the beginning of electing Board of Directors for the organization. Members have been asked to nominate other members for positions on the board. Notice of the open period for nominations have been delivered in the following ways:

1 - the member newsletter distributed via email
2 - on the home page of the member website
3 - via postal mail (worldwide).

A faxed back or postal mailed back form with signature is required for the nomination to be considered. It is our intention to show the full list of nominations at the Chicago SES meeting.

Cool, looking forward to seeing the nominations in Chicago!

Thanks for the added info, Greg!
