Hey All - bye1.gif

Since you are all coming out to Chicago (many I have not met yet), I thought it would be great if we could plan something, somewhat informally (socially) to just get together before departing after the Seminars?

The reason I offer is because I can have a "spot" so-to-speak in the suburbs (Schaumburg) at a Restaurant/Brewery naughty.gif (I knew you'd like that word...)

I guess I would just need to feel confident that a number of people would show? I know we can get the word out a little... what do you think?

I was thinking Thursday Night December 16th - the last day of the show? How are your calendars??

Ladies cutting out early could head to Schaumburg and shop at the Woodfield Mall??? before coming over...to socialize. This place is 2 blocks away from there.

Since I would (somehow) be sponsoring this "social event" I would probably cover the Beer (remember, it's a micro brewery too), and maybe even the wine??? I also care that everyone has a "safe" way back... hotel, whatever.

My business card will get you in and I can hand them out at the conference? You know, 5 or 10 each so you can all invite? Could this have some social potential? cheers.gif

A lot of people tend to bug out either before the last day, during the last day or immediately after the last day of the conference Scott. Travel schedules and hotel check out times being what they are. So you may have trouble getting many to stay in town for a post-SES party.

On the other end of the spectrum, if you hit the bar at the conference hotel the night before the conference starts you'll get to meet most people. That's where everybody seems to congregate after they arrive in town and get settled in their rooms.

Tim and I are driving back to St. Louis Wednesday, so couldn't make it to a Thursday event. Possible earlier in the week, though!

Folks of all genders, Woodfield is awesome! I heard that it has the most retail space of any other US mall. We don't have Marshall Fields in St. Louis, so I always like to have a look around there.

Ikea - the Swedish (?) home store - is just across Golf road in that area, too. Good prices and a different variety.

Then there's Galayan's on the other side of the mall (Think they call that strip "The Streets of Woodfield" or something like that...can see it from 53 just south of the mall). They have a rock-climbing wall that's entertaining to watch.

It sounds like fun, Scott! Unfortunately, it's really difficult to plan these things in advance, because you never know what things are going on very often till you get there. For me, Tues. night might be a good one cuz Wed. is the only day I'm not speaking!

The hardest part would be dragging my sorry ass out of the hotel bar to go to a different bar that was far away. I get lazy and will be like...hey beer is beer...why travel to get it... drunk.gif

It is a trek from McCormick Place to Schaumberg. And if my Metra schedules are still current, the latest train on the Elgin to Chicago line that runs through Schaumberg leaves at 10:10 pm, which might be cutting it close. That may put a damper on it for folks who don't have their own vehicles.

(No matter what, though, I'm going shopping at the mall...probably hit it the weekend before though so I can meet up with a friend who lives just North of there in Buffalo Grove. Oh yeah, and Menards! We only have Lowes and Home Depot here, so I always want to check out their construction stuff.)

Geez, I hope four days is long enough for me to get all the extra-curricular activities in!

Thank You -

Maybe you're right... too late, too far. It gets to this time of year and I get all mushy... unsure.gif ...wanted to somewhat welcome you all to Chicago - which has been known to hold it's own.

Randy's idea is the best, just means I need to go into the City the night before?

I just spend so much time on the computer and with clients lately, that I thought it would be good to get out a little more (socially) - sounds like something my shrink would say - lol.gif - Thanks for your feedback, you never know until you try.

- Scott

(getting out with a hundred other web marketing professionals does not qualify as socializing) - just came across my psychology ticker.... lmao.gif

Just buy us all a round one night at the hotel bar, Scott. That will be heartily received! smile.gif

Yeah... I'm cutting this trip close since it's the week before Cmas. I'm in on Monday morning, speaking Tuesday and out Wednesday morning.

I appreciate the offer (as I'm sure everybody else does), but I agree that it might be best to just wing it.
