Hi all!

I am currently sorting out a problem that I have created for myself in regards to making changes to a bunch of URLs names. Google did a really deep crawl on my site this week. I should be delighted. Well there were some problems that I did not no about and 404 errors were being thrown left and right. Well I have fixed those errors by making some adjustments to my "friendly URLs" as I have a bunch of dynamically created pages.

My question is this. google has indexed e.g. a url of www.mysite.com/gallery/page/value1/value2

I know how to create a redirect so that it will go to www.mysite.com/gallery/page.php/value1/value2

Do I make this redirect a temporary one or a permanent one? I thought I have read some where where google really frowns on redirects and treats it like cloaking.

What are your thoughts before I make another potentially bad mistake ;) ?

Thanks

Dan

Hi Dan,

If you do a search on the forum for 301 redirect, we've been discussing this in numerous other threads.

Good luck!

Jill
