Greetings Friends! bye1.gif

Its been a long time since I've posted here, glad to be back.

I have found a CMS system for building my websites that I absolutly love. It makes PHP-Nuke look like your running your writing HTML with crayon. Its called Mambo Open Source.

Now one of my personal sites was the first I transfered over to it. Its been a month now and Google has updated its search results to include my new site design on mambo.

Benefits: -went from 10 listed indexed pages to 33 (after showing omitted results)
-extremely easy to update and organize
-wonderuflly customizable

Ok so now that I've raved on how much I love my mambo, here's something that's concerned me slightly and I'm not sure if this would have a negative affect anywhere or not. When doing a site:doidd.com search to see how many pages Google had indexed, if found one result that was very strange:

[ Home ] [ Gallery ] [ Diary ] [ My Info ]
Welcome to my little corner. Since I don't have much time for all the things
I want to do, (one of which is keeping this site up ...
www.doidd.com/component/option,com_ weblinks/task,view/catid,2/id,2/ - 5k - Cached - Similar pages

This listed link along with the description Google pulled is actually a user's site that they listed on mine. Yet it shows up as one of mine. There is a redirect happening and Google's attributing it to my site.

I'm not really sure if this is something to worry about or not and before I spoke with the mambo community about possibly changing this I wanted to get some input on the experts and see what you all thought!

It sounds as if the redirect might be a 302. There have been some recent examples of 302 redirects confusing Googlebot so that pages and content end up being attributed to the wrong site. I'm not sure what would be causing this to happen suddenly though.

That would be my first guess anyway. It might be wise to look at the server headers for all such pages to see if they'll help you track down the cause.

Well I believe it has to do with a component they're using to make the php url's more 'search engine friendly.'

In the .htaccess file they have the following:

#
# mod_rewrite in use
#

RewriteEngine On

# Uncomment following line if your webserver's URL
# is not directly related to physival file paths.
# Update YourMamboDirectory (just / for root)

# RewriteBase /YourMamboDirectory

#
# Rules
#

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a code they use to rewrite the urls on my site so that they're more SE Friendly.

My biggest concern with this is, will this reflect negatively on the site? If I throw 20 different sites that I want to link to and google's listing them all as part of my site will this show up as some sort of 'no no' and Google then decide that I'm one of the "evil" ones? :learn:
