anyways I found that I was ranking for the term "free seo information" and the the only place that I had that particluar phrase (or even parts of it) were in the meta description as the articles were in their infancy and there was little text. Now with further developement the page ranks #1 for free seo information (well from canada at least) but the whole point was at the stage I first noticed the serp I had no backlinks that I was aware of and as I said those words appeared in the desc only.
Are you saying that you didn't have those words ANYWHERE except the meta description? And you came up #1 for a keyword phrase that you did not have in text or in links or in title?
HMMMMMMM a bit strange.
I guess no sites were competing and Google just picked your site to be #1 at random????
What do you think? Are you the only one competing for that keyword phrase?
Personally, I do try to pay attention to my description because, if nothing else, it can be a selling point when it is shown in the search engines. I wouldn't put anything in the description that wasn't also on the page itself, doesn't make sense to me.
SEO guy, how many clicks did you actually get (and over what period of time) from the keyword phrase 'free seo information'?? Just curious because neither WordTracker or Google show that phrase as being searched on.
Stranger things have happened, I suppose! It's hard for me to decifer since your site (I guess it's your site) apparently now carries the phrase and parts their of in the title and in the text (didn't check links). Too bad you didn't ask this question when it was in the state you describe =)
