I attended the High Ranking seminar last April in the Chicago area. I recall that Debra, the person who did the link building seminar said that if you want to contact a company about linking to your site, then you should write the company a letter. I know that this is a stupid question, but has anyone done this and what did you say in your letter if you did? Thanks so much.

Not a stupid question at all....

I'm guessing you were a repeat visitor to the site you would like to exchange links with, if so....

• Explain that you have enjoyed visiting the site.
• You feel that it was a positive enough experience that you would like to "possibly" exchange links.
• The benefits of the exchange (more traffic both ways)
• Extend to them a type of handshake of traffic partnership (no cost either way)
• Offer a type of probational link exchange (monitor how much traffic you generate for them and they for you)
• Thank them for providing a great resource as well (if its a resource site)
