Hi Everybody! Big up - ya too bad. :raspberry:

Just a quick question for all of you... well a few really, but they're all along the same lines.

I've been asked by my boss to add a link to LinkPartners.com.

Does anybody else use this service?

Is it ethical SEO strategy?

Any chance of associating with a bad neighbourhood?

Does the notion of bad neighbourhoods still apply in SEO?

What you all sayin?

Cheers then,

Dave

Hi Dave-

No time to dig in to it, but at first glance it simply looks like a "meeting place" for people interested in swapping links. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Hi Dave

We have been using Link Partners and LinkManager for some time now. Links Manager is a monthly service of 19.95 for 50 catagories which is more than sufficient.

Links Manager works in conjunction with Link Partners, which is a free service. At Link Parters you register your site information, provide the description you want others to display about your business, and can even select the categories of companies with which you want to share reciprocal links with. Then, at Links Manager you input the basic information for your site and the categories of links you want to establish.

The best part is once you have provided the basic information, Links Manager support staff does all the work for you. They set up your Add a Link page for new companies who want to add their link to your site and the Links Pages (directory and page per category). They will even design the link page, at no charge, to blend with the look of your site. Once they do this work, you are ready to go.

Since signing up about a year ago we receive link swap requests on a daily basis. We review the requestor site, and at that point either accept or deny the request. Most requests are sites within our theme and have a good page rank.

Overall its minimal effort for a good return

Hope this helps

Thanks Scottie and Talking Bear! Ya too bad.

So just to clarify, are you saying there's no way that links are added to your links page (or your link added to anyone elses) without your approval?

If that's the case I'm sure it's nice and SE friendly - and sounds like a pretty good service.

Cheers guys! Laterz.

That's right - the only links that are given or added - are approved

You can find out more on their FAQ page

I'm always impressed with a company who responds quickly with quality information and service. Its hard to find, especially on the internet.

I've used Link Partners...not the actual pay management application, I've swapped with a couple of sites through them that I thought were good resources. The nice thing is that you can limit the requests you receive depending on your business field...and there's nothing forcing you to link to the requesting site if your not happy with the content from that site.

no complaints..at all

laters!

I started using LinkManager about six weeks ago. Google has indexed the links page and reports about 90 backlinks to it. Most of these backlinks are from the internal pages on the site itself but they all have PR 4 or better.

Here is the question. Will Google eventually give this page a PR? Because at the moment while they report all the backlinks the PR is 0.

Other than that it seems to be a great service. They certainly take 90% of the work out of managing a reciprocal link program.

I'm too lazy to look- but isn't this the thing where they actually host your link page on their site?

So all your incoming links are coming from linksmanager.com and not from the individual sites?

If so, all it will take is for Google to decide they don't like this arrangement and turn off the PR for linksmanager and "poof" no more incoming links.

If this isn't the same program, then nevermind. Bottom line is there aren't shortcuts to getting good links. These things may work today but eventually they won't.

No - they are hosted on the person's site but not very pretty pages. See here. Can't imagine that these type of pages would give much benefit if they link to you. No offense Talking Bear.

No. Not necessarily that is an option, but you also have the option of hosting the link pages on your own hosting server. What is hosted on their site are the add link pages. And they also hold all new links until you review, edit and approve them. Then they are ftp'd up/down to your web server.

If this isn't the same program, then nevermind.  Bottom line is there aren't shortcuts to getting good links.  These things may work today but eventually they won't.

I see absolutely no reason for this to be the case. If the link pages are all maintained on the same server as the web page why would Google care what tools you used to create and maintain them?

Hi Dave

FYI

LinksManager will integrate their page into your site for free.

Here is our example www.connectionchannel.com/links/links.asp

Yes I can make it better looking, but that's for another day.

I can now answer my own question. As of this afternoon Google has assigned a PR4 to my links page.

So I guess this dispels the myth that was earlier suggested on this forum that Google will devalue any site that uses the LinksManager program.
