Do Blog Post Links Count?

December 14, 2011

Hello Jill,

I know of you from your SEO videos on Lynda.com. I appreciate your teachings and Bloggeradmire your knowledge. I am currently learning about search engine optimization but have a question that I am finding hard to get answered. It's funny, because as I searched Google, High Rankings was #1 for my inquiry and I already knew of you from the Lynda videos!

My question is: Does link popularity take into account blog postings with your link and product information? What kind of weight does that hold?

Best,

Sir

Hi Sir,

Glad you liked my Lynda.com SEO training course!

Because blog posts are just web pages, links within the posts count toward link popularity just like any other link (presuming that they don't have the nofollow attribute on them). The weight that they hold will be determined by the number of links that point to the page your link is on, and the quality of those links as well.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Jill
